Welcome, to The Leadership Living Room Podcast…
Where We Have Deeply Human Conversations About Work.
Why Would I Listen to This Podcast?
Because there are a lot of unhappy people at work, and that is really bad for business. Research shows that when a workplace doesn’t feel like a safe place, people become guarded. And when people are guarded, they disconnect, and they disengage.
Turns out when people suffer, their performance suffers too.
In 2018 The People Side created an experience called The Leadership Living Room where teams could come together to have a wholehearted conversation that got to the bottom of what was really happening so they could unlock their performance.
In 2020,in-person learning experiences were not possible, so we decided to make a podcast that would continue our mission of ending human suffering at work. On this podcast, Candyce Penteado, the Founder and President of The People Side, invites in business leaders, executive coaches, and leadership development experts, to explore the kind of conversations we help people have in The Leadership Living Room. These are the conversations people rarely have at work, but they can impact the way people work together every single day.
We hope when you listen to our podcast, you are compelled to lead conversations like this back at work. To help you do that, we created conversation guides and toolkits anyone can download. Team Talks© are simple, approachable tools that help YOU have a deeply human conversation about work.
Episode 0 Welcome to the Leadership Living Room Podcast
Meet the leaders of The People Side–Candyce Penteado, Claire Williams, and Naomi Banks – and learn why they are encouraging people to have more “deeply human conversations at work.” Listen as they share the neuroscience behind unlocking human capacity for performance and how they transform companies by transforming one leader, and one team at a time.
Episode 1 Navigating Uncertainty @ Work
On this episode we explore the impact of uncertainty on human performance and productivity at work. 2020 provided all of us with ample uncertainty (boatloads of uncertainty!) both inside and outside of the workplace. These new threats and fears impact the productivity of people at work. Ann Boyum, a transformational coach and thought-leader in unlocking human performance, joins us in The Living Room to explore the myth of certainty and how we can help each other move forward despite all of the unknowns.
If you want to support your team through an uncertain time, and acknowledge the emotional impact of change on their wellbeing, this is the conversation for you!
Episode 2 Staying Resilient @ Work
When the world is throwing punch after punch, even people with extraordinary stress tolerance will struggle to stay focused and think clearly at work. To survive, and even thrive, in the face of constant change and disruption people need to practice resilience. But what does that mean? Pete Berridge, an accomplished coach and thought-leader in positive psychology, joins us in The Leadership Living Room for a conversation that will help people“stay above the line” and cope with ongoing uncertainty and change
If you want to help your team understand the importance of mindset management, and build collective resilience, this is the conversation for you!
Episode 3 Finding Meaning @ Work
During times of significant disruption, many people begin to ask themselves existential questions, including questions about, “Why am I working so hard?” and “What is all of this for?” So we decided to use this inflection point as a reflection point and help people find more meaning in their work. On this episode, Claire Williams, Client Partner at The People Side and a masterful executive coach, takes the conversation further and explores what might happen to a person’s performance and motivation when they do work they find more deeply meaningful.
